The history of African people is rich; and, although Dr. Carter G. Woodson is not the beginning of our history, he certainly provides us with an entry point to start the journey of unpacking Black history. Why start with Dr. Woodson? His creation of “negro history week” laid the groundwork for children then and in the forthcoming future to learn, love and embrace their ancestor’s accomplishments.
